My Dressy Week

This past week was "dressy" for several reasons.  Last week, I tried on dresses and finally purchased my dress for my brother and (soon to be) sister-in-law's wedding.

This is the dress with the color swab I was trying to match beside it.  I found it at a local boutique, which I adore!

The same day of the dress, I decided to make a pot roast dinner with potatoes, carrots, cabbage and onions.  I made it with a vegan roast of mushrooms, etc.  It tasted well, but made both of us a little sick afterwards, so I will not be using that recipe again!  It was too heavy of a dish.  Maybe I put in a little too much sauce :P

This week was another movie night with friends, and we shared sushi take-out as well.  The movie of choice was the "Dallas Buyer's Club".  The movie was nicely done, but it was very sad.  Next week, I will help in picking out a happier movie, or so I am told :)

This past weekend, I had another "dressy" event.  I wore business casual to a Starbucks event.  I met some great people and had fun.  No coffee, but that was mostly my fault!  I also went to a farmer's market on Sunday and watched a cute couple get engaged during a song by a local band.  The guy had one of the venders, who write poems, write a "will you marry me" message to his girlfriend and then he knelt down on one knee and proposed.  All of their friends were there snapping photos, and we got a good view because we happened to be sitting right beside where all of this was happening.  One of the guys' friends was the "spy" and told the boyfriend when his girlfriend arrived at the market.  He was actually easy to spot because he was wearing a very obviously fake mustache!

We have also been watching the Olympics, which is always exciting.  I have watched almost every ice-skating competition so far - which has been only the team events.  Everyone is so lovely and talented, but of course the Russians are the best so far.  I also watched as two Americans (one in the men's competition and the other in the women's) won gold in slopestyle (snowboarding).  I am looking forward to watching Shaun White compete, and to watching the continuing ice-skating competitions.
